OOC; META ALERT
Aug. 21st, 2010 01:50 amFor future and past reference. The following information has been brought to my attention:
According to Nolan, Arthur and Eames are both ex-military.
THIS REQUIRED A MASSIVE HEAD-CANON SHIFT. From now on, all mentions of Eames's past are to be replaced with the following:
James Donovan the delinquent signed up to join the army at 18. A year later he was recruited to the United Nations PASIV program. At 20, he was made a professional forger for the PASIV training program, his job being to act as a living, breathing distraction in the dreams. This was when the disillusionment with the military began. His orders were always too specific, his forges too political, not at all realistic nor random enough to feign reality. The whole program was a horrible joke that he couldn't stand, and at 21, he found his exit. Captain James Donovan shot down the con man by the name of Mr. Eames on orders, and instead of calling it in he burned the body and stole his identity, disappearing off the map.
As far as the military is concerned, Captain James Donovan is dead, though his file is still pending in the hands of the secret service.
SO. This military addition. I might scrap it later, but I think it works. All the rest of it's the same. He was a thieving delinquent who failed at school because he was bored before this, and he went back to what he enjoyed after this. Stealing and acting, it's his specialty. He started experimenting with forging women soon after that, and the rest is history. I figure Arthur's the reason Cobb knows that this is the same guy.
But yes, this might go bye-bye if it's too hard to integrate. If that happens, I'm going to try to forget I ever read that bit of information.
Discuss!
